2. What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information we process when you visit our website, create an account, place an order, sign up for emails, contact our customer service or interact with us on social media. It does not cover third-party websites or services we link to. Those have their own privacy policies.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Contact and account details: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, and your password if you create an account.
• Order details: products, sizes and colours, order value, discount codes, and your return and exchange requests.
• Payment information: payments are handled directly by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number. We only receive limited details such as the card type, the last four digits and the payment status.
• Communications: messages you send us, product reviews, survey answers and your email marketing preferences.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, products looked at, referring website, and the date and time of your visit.
• Approximate location: the country derived from your IP address, which we use to suggest the right currency.
• Cookies and similar technologies: see section 5.

Information from others

• Payment providers, including Klarna: payment confirmation, fraud-check results and approval status.
• Shipping carriers and fulfilment partners: delivery status and tracking events.
• Advertising and analytics partners: aggregated or pseudonymous information about how people find and use our website, where you have allowed this.

4. How we use your information

We use your personal information only for the purposes below. If you are in the EU or UK, the table also shows our legal basis for each one.

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them as follows:

Analytics and advertising cookies are only used where we have your consent, or where the law allows it without consent. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings on our website, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, the cart and checkout will not work.

When you choose a language other than English, the text of the page and your IP address are processed by Google to translate the page.

We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, where the law requires it.

6. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We only share it in these situations:

• Service providers who work for us under contract and only use your information to provide their service:
  • website hosting (Hostinger)
  • payment processing (our card payment provider, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna)
  • order fulfilment partners and suppliers who pack and ship your order
  • shipping carriers
  • email and customer service tools
  • analytics and advertising partners such as Google and Meta, where you have consented
• Klarna: if you choose to pay with Klarna, we share your contact and order details with Klarna so it can assess and process your payment. Klarna's privacy notice applies to how Klarna uses your information.
• Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
• Authorities, when we are required to by law, or to protect our rights, our customers or others, for example to prevent fraud.
• Business transfers: if our business or its assets are sold or reorganised, personal information may be transferred to the new owner under this policy.

7. International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers and fulfilment partners may process information in the United States and in other countries, including countries in Asia where our products are packed and shipped. These countries may not have the same data-protection laws as your country.

When we transfer personal information from the EU, UK or Switzerland, we use one of these safeguards:

• an adequacy decision, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for certified providers
• the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK Addendum where relevant
• where none of these apply, a transfer necessary to perform the contract with you, such as shipping your order

8. How long we keep your information

• Order and payment records: as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal purposes, generally up to 7 years after the order.
• Account information: until you close your account, and then for a short period for security and backup purposes.
• Customer service messages: up to 3 years after your last contact with us.
• Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent.
• Cookies: for the periods shown in section 5.

9. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. These include encrypted (HTTPS/SSL) connections, payment processing by PCI-DSS compliant providers, access controls and regular software updates. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires.

10. Your rights in the EU, UK and Switzerland

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy
• have inaccurate information corrected
• have your information deleted ("right to be forgotten")
• restrict how we use your information
• receive your information in a portable format
• object to processing based on legitimate interests, and object to direct marketing at any time
• withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

11. Your rights in the United States

Depending on your state of residence, for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas or Oregon, you may have the right to:

• know about and access the personal information we collect, use and disclose
• correct inaccurate personal information
• delete your personal information
• receive a portable copy of your information
• opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising
• appeal our decision on your request
• not be discriminated against for using any of these rights

Notice for California residents

In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information:

• identifiers (such as name, email, address and IP address)
• customer records
• commercial information (purchases)
• internet or network activity
• approximate geolocation

We collect them from the sources described in section 3, for the purposes described in section 4, and disclose them to the categories of recipients described in section 6.

We do not sell personal information for money. If we use advertising cookies, this may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out through the cookie settings, by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or by emailing us. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

How to make a request

Email info@brezzanoshoes.com with the subject "Privacy request". We will verify your identity by matching information you give us with information we hold, and we respond within 45 days. An authorised agent can make a request for you with your signed permission.

If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying with the subject "Privacy appeal". If your appeal is denied, you can contact your state Attorney General.

12. Marketing emails

We only send you marketing emails if you have signed up, or where the law allows us to email existing customers about similar products. Every marketing email has an "unsubscribe" link. Service emails about your orders are still sent after you unsubscribe, because they are needed to deliver your purchase.

13. Children's privacy

Our website is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email info@brezzanoshoes.com and we will delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell you clearly on our website or by email.
